My Protein Ball Hack

Protein Ball Hack

So, I was at the store and feeling snacky. The way we all do when we go grocery shopping. I came upon my favorite muesli and it sparked in my mind that I could make protein balls with it. I mean genius, right?! Anything to save this Mama time + brain space!

If you don’t know what muesli ( I didn’t until a few years ago) let me fill you in. Muesli is a mixture of cereals (typically rolled oats) mixed with dried fruits, nuts, and seeds. Some people like it warm like oatmeal and others with milk poured over it like cereal. Now I like it as a protein ball! Typically muesli can be loaded with sugar but my favorite brand has half the sugar content you would find in others. It also has chia seeds and pumpkin seeds which I love for extra nutrients. Anyways, now to the hack!

I love this hack because you don’t have to buy or pull out a bunch of ingredients. In fact, you only need 4 total ingredients. Easy and simple!

As you can see the ingredients are very simple. All you have to do is mix them up, roll them into balls and pop in the freezer for 15 mins. Then to store just stick them in the refrigerator and enjoy it as a quick snack. I am going to link below my favorite almond butter, coconut manna, and melon ball scooper (makes creating balls so much easier and less messy) below. For flax seeds, be sure to grab the actual seeds and grind them up fresh. Flax seeds go rancid a week after they are ground. They also give great fiber and help with hormone balance, so I wanted to make sure to include them in my protein balls. Also, you want your honey to be raw ( local if possible) no added sugars. You would be surprised at what they try and sneak into something as simple as honey. Maple syrup you will want grade A and I like to get that organic too. I prefer a little less than 1/4 cup honey in mine but the kids like the 1/3 cup since it is sweeter that way. Play around with the sweetness.

Enjoy!

Almond butter that tastes homemade
This is our favorite everyday almond butter, is organic, raw, and tastes homemade!
Using a melon ball scooper to form your protein balls makes it so much easier and less messy!
My favorite clean organic muesli.
It has half the sugar of other mueslis! PS- this is the big bag!
Organic Muesli protein balls
One of their other yummy flavors.
With this one, you would want to stick with the 1/3 cup honey since it doesn’t have any in it already like the Wild & Free mix does.
If you don’t mind them not being organic, they also have this variety pack.
If you need flax seeds, I like this brand. I buy mine in bulk a lot too. Don’t forget to ground!
